Damon's story. Wren hands Damon a case to go back to his painful past at the commune/school where tragedy happened so long ago. Damon wants nothing to do with confronting his painful past but Cate has hired Wren's company to investigate the death of her sister at said school. She's been told it was suicide but she knows better. Damon goes home undercover with Cate, posing as his girlfriend, so they can get answers. Surprising revelations, attacks, and threats pull Damon under, drowning him in his past where he might not be able to escape from. Cate turns into a target while they are gathering information and will stop at nothing to find out what happened to her sister with or without Damon. Along the way revelations about each other and their fake relationship bubble to the surface causing Damon to either flight or fight before they both get killed. Also introduced in this book is the Trevor, the final guy in the Quint Five!
