I was telling my mother about this list that we are compiling and she asked me if The Proud Breed was on it.

She used to be an avid romance reader and this is her all time favorite book.  I have never actually read this book, but it seems to get a really good review on a lot of sites.

Does anyone else really love this book that has read it?

YES ... a long time ago and I loved it.  That was the first of a series, and they were all wonderful book.  I reread them all many, many times.

I read it, I didnt realize it was part of a series though, I'll have to go look the others up. I remember that it is an epic romance, It goes from the beginning of the relationship right up to their deaths and includes all the good and bad times. As I recall, there were some pretty bad times.

Oh!  Speaking of this author, has anyone read  The Tiger's Woman?  I've heard this was another wonderful book by this author and I've seen this particular book  on a lot of must-read/top romance list, but I didn't want to try it before confirming it had no cheating (hero sleeping with other women after having relations with the heroine)....  I am so very cautious about these epic romance from the 70-80s... you never know what you gonna get, yanno? LOL... Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

I read THE TIGER'S WOMAN  years ago and remembered that I loved it. But I don't remember the details of the story to say whether the hero cheated on her or not.

Completely forgot about this thread.

Thank you for the replies!...Now I really, really want to try it, but I  am still feeling timid about this book.... Not sure if some of you have read the "romantic" epic-saga books from the 70-80s but some of them are crazy!  They're so depressingly at times, if they don't piss you off that is... I'm not saying they're bad books, but sometimes you gotta be warned first or the book will keep you pissed and angry for days, if not months and years haha.

Psh, til this day, I am pissed at Ginny for forgiving Steve ( Sweet Savage Love by Rosemary Rogers), I've always said, that "romance" book  was the best saga book I've ever read that I wish I never picked up lol.
