Hello all. Just dropping in to give a friendly reminder about a few ways to get an answer to your questions if you have any.

  • The Help Center can answer 90% of questions. Its searchable by keyword or category and all easy to understand. I know that sometimes you wont be able to find the answer but its good to make yourself familiar with the HC. As the Pochohantas song goes :You'll learn things you never knew you never knew."
  • Tour Guides. Ok us TGs dont know everything but we do know stuff and we are always willing to find an answer for you. Your TG should be on your buddy list. Just drop a personal message and your TG will get back to you on it.
  • Live Help. If you need a more imediate answer to a question you can go to Live Help and ask a TG that is currently online. As I said before we are all more than willing to answer questions.

Thanks, Chris!  One thing I might add:  Us Tour Guides want to help as much as possible, but we are unable to see private accounts.  All we can see is your bookshelf, wishlist, and profile if you have one.  Just letting you know. :)

I also want to comment on how user friendly our Help Center is! It is completely word searchable. Type in the keyword to your question, and I'll bet your answer will come up. I've only found a couple things that didn't come up,and they were very obscure issues and weren't for someone else, they were for me.

I also recommend new users spend some time reading thru the list of Browse Help Docs. It's basically a list of "Frequently asked Questions" and they really are the most frequently asked and discussed points that you need to know when you first start on PBS. No one can know all the answers to begin with, but just like anything else in life, it's MUCH easier if you read the instructions first and THEN try to operate your new toy :)

How do you become a Tour Guide and is there any benefit to it other than being able to help new members, etc?  Just wondering...

The only benifits are a cool little blue and white icon and the satisfaction of helping people. To become a TG you have to sign an NDA then contact Diane G (icesk8ter) I cant find a link to the NDA but I'll try to get one up when I do. Or if a TG comes along and knows where it is they can link to it. :D

I believe you also need to be a member for at least 6 months.
