I was just going to post a book into the system and I noticed that the publication year of my book is different from the publication year listed here at PBS. My copy is older by four years. The newest publication date is 29 years ago and mine is 33 years ago - so we're talking an older and possibly yellowing book regardless. Mine is in good, gently read condition (PBS postable), but the pages are yellowing. The binding matches what is listed and the cover is identical. My question is. . .do the publication years have to match? I've skimmed the helps documents, but don't find a reference to publication year. If I've missed it, I apologize, but am thankful any response I get here. Last Edited on: 12/3/12 2:34 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Publication years do not have to match, and yellowing is fine. There are 5 points of information that have to match: 1. title 2. author 3. ISBN 4. Binding type 5. If the listing says "Large Print" the book must be large print. Nothing else needs to match, including the publication year, the cover, etc. |

I know yellowing pages are fine. I think I mentioned it because ultimately my concern is the person may be disappointed (and I hate that my mind goes here, but I slightly worried that they might ding me for having a different publication year out of disappointment in getting an older book). Then again, the person should know they're wishing for a 30+ year-old book, so I'm thinking they should not be surprised by yellowing pages. I just wanted to make sure the publication year is a non-issue. Again, the book is in good condition with a sturdy binding and I have no question about it being postable. Thanks, Sara, for confirming that publication years can be different if the other things match. Last Edited on: 12/3/12 2:44 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
