I found this book on the reformation to be very interesting: http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780143035381-The+Reformation  It's very academic and detailed, so it isn't a quick casual read if you just want to know the outlines of what happened.  But if you're interested in an depth discussion of what happened, why, and how it impacted history, then you might be interested in it.

On the subject of Puritans and the Reformation, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more significant figure than Jonathan Edwards.  George Marsden wrote a biography called "Jonathan Edwards:  A Life".  I was spellbound.  I've also heard a number of reviewers who say it's the best biography of Edwards written to date.
