A young woman in deep debt turns to her mother for help, but mom has no funds and won't tell her who her father is. So she goes off on a quest, joining a radical movement with a charismatic leader who promises her information that could lead to her father.
I generally love Franzen's novels, and this one is very good, it's just not my favorite.

Although this book started out slow for me, I'm glad I stayed with it. Once it picked up I couldn't put it down. There is so much going on here - love, deception, fear of commitment, the internet, hacking, mental illness....and it all seems so random until Franzen eventually ties things together in a such a clever and interesting way. The plot twists and turns and thickens. Needless to say I highly recommend this book.
