I'm new to PBS and have a few questions about putting my shelf on hold.
I have several requests for my books already and I realized that I won't be able to mail out the books for a couple of weeks. Is it ok to put my shelf on hold even while there are requests? I've only agreed to mail one book so far. I've contacted that person and let her know I'll be mailing her book this week.
Should I click on the option that says I cannot mail books, and then put my shelf on hold. Or do I not mess with that and just put my shelf on hold? Also, will putting my shelf on hold affect the one book I will be mailing out this week?
Thanks for your help.
As I understand it Angie, putting your shelf on hold will not affect transactions already in progress. If you can't mail books out that you've already got requests for for a few weeks I personally would say I cannot mail them so the person has the opportunity to get them from someone else in a timely manner. PBS doesn't give the option of putting mailing off for that long, that I know of. I think that would be the fair thing to do. You can also make note of the people requesting your books and PM them and let them know the situation just in case the books that they want can't be obtained from anyone else, and maybe when you come back you can offer the books up to them again on their wishlist if that's the case.
I hope that helps.
Hey, Angie, you can use the advanced search feature to check for books that are wish listed. You can search this way by title or ISBN... I find it helpful when people donate books to me or when I come home with a bunch of books from library sales.
When postage money is tight, I use that feature and am able to put WL books aside and post them when I have more money in the postage budget. It's hard to get a bunch of requests all at once sometimes!
Welcome to PBS, by the way!
