I just joined PBS because I was hoping to do some manga swapping, but it looks to me like there's a huge list of people wanting manga and very few who are swapping it, especially in the OT/M range that interests me.  I have Cain, Godchild, and Hellsing volumes that I'm wiling to throw into the pot, and if I'd seen yaoi in the "available" list, I would have been willing to start swapping that, too, but I have to admit that I'm reluctant to post any books if the best I can hope for in return is Lizzie McGuire! I really don't need any other kinds of books ... I have access to excellent public and university libraries where I can order any mainstream books that I want to read. Manga, OTOH, is a little harder to obtain through interlibrary loan.

What happens if I post the manga that I'm willing to swap, but then I can't find any desirable manga to replace them? Do people find that they have trouble getting manga because members are hoarding their volumes rather than keeping them circulating? What, if anything, do the rest of you do to keep the manga flowing back and forth?

I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice....

I swap out a lot of the manga I get. Also, keeping an eye out at used bookstores (UBS) and library sales to swap. If it's on your wishlist, eventually a copy will get posted. Basically it takes patience. I've been in line for the Alice19th series since I joined over a yr. ago and I just got one volume in the mail today.

Some people may just not be really aware that manga can be swapped on PBS.  It wasn't until 2 days ago that I checked to see if some of what I had could be listed (I wound up with some duplicate titles).  I then posted the 8 I had and all but 2 had wishlist queues.

I am planning on posting my collection, however I am loaning some of the series I have out to a co-worker, so I am waiting for him,

I've got a whole ton of comics wishlisted, and that's been working. I'm not in any great hurry, and I get comics about as often as I send books/comics (for example, I think of your Hellsings just came up for me, and I got a Hellboy last week). And if you're worried about shrinking your comics collection, just don't swap any you'd miss. Decent comics usually go really fast, and often don't make it to the available list because they're already wishlisted. The upside to this is that if you need some credits fast comics will get you them.

I'm in the process of clearing out a ton of old books (and some comics) that I don't want anymore, so PBS has been great for me.
