I'm just now starting to read the Daily Digest (DD). This morning, around 11:30 AM ET , I saw a book on it I wanted to get. The DD told me it had been posted this morning, around 5 AM ET. When I pulled up the detail page, it didn't have "Order" turned on, just "Post" and "Buy New."

Q:  Does that mean someone else saw it and got their grubby paws on it, between 5 AM and 11:30 AM (both ET)? Or does the button "Order" take a while to light up? If so, how long?

I went back to the DD just now, and noticed that another book--in the Horror section, where I'm browsing--is in the same situation: desirable to me (and most probably, to other horror fans), posted around 5 AM ET, and no "Order" button as of 11:30 AM ET.

(In case you're wondering whether the book was wish-listed, and that's what happened, it got shunted out to the first-in-line wish-lister, nope, that's not it. Neither of these books had a wish list.)

Q:  This is probably answered somewhere in the Help files, but could someone please tell me: When is the Daily Digest put together and sent out?

And then there's the whole issue of what's the best bet for catching those primo titles as soon as they're posted? I guess the DD can't be it, because it only comes out once a day. Which leaves us saved searches--that is, repeating your saved searches as often as you can, if you really want to beat the competition for titles that aren't yet in the system, and thus not yet on yours or anyone else's wish list. (This would mean titles that you know about that aren't yet in the system, but also, more critically, titles that you *don't* know about.)

What about timed auto-searches? I couldn't find any Help that referred to them, so I assume we can't do them as a Swap feature. What about doing timed searches as a macro running in a browser or operating system? Have any of y'all tried that?

P.S.  Today is my one-month anni on the Swap! <ear-to-ear grin>

If you see a book you like but it isn't there to order, put it on your WL and if there is no WL line the next copy becomes yours!

The thing is, just because a book is posted, even 10 minutes ago, it doesn't mean it's actually available. They show all books posted, even books that are wishlisted. So if you click on a book that has 100 people wishing for it, obviously it won't actually be available to you no matter how quick you are, as it would have been offered to the first person in the wishlist line. But as others have said, it's a great way to know what's out there to wishlist, too.

And even if it wasn't wishlisted (read more carefully, Cheryl! Argh! LOL) it's possible the book was one that somebody posted directly to a buddy or something. There may have been one person wishing and when the posted book was offered to them, it looks like there aren't any wishers anymore. Lots of different scenarios as to why those books turn 'unavailable' so fast.

When is the Daily Digest put together and sent out?

I have 2 answers for that question. Living on the West Coast, I usually get an e-mail sometime around or before 12:30 am PST that the new DD had been posted.

I have figured something out. I bookmarked the link to the DD and can actually get the next one soon after 9:00 pm PST by going to my bookmarked link.
