There are much better BDSM novels out there--and this is much closer to fiction than nonfiction. I read it when it first came out and, as little knowledge of the BDSM lifestyle as I had at the time, even I knew this was fiction and not a memoir. It was not a case of "Oh, my god, people don't really do this, do they?" but one of "Who the hell does he think he's kidding with the self-serving ego trip?" I've never heard this book praised as an important one in the community and for that I'm glad.

Do not waste your book credit on this one. It's not worth the paper it was printed on.
