I know that you can not post Advance Reading Copies on here so I was wondering what I can do with them?   I have a non-reader family member that receives them because of her job, and while I read a few of them, most are romances and I don't/won't read them.  These books are brand new and have never even been opened.  Should I just throw them into the goodwill box?

Is it legal to make "outside" deals with people on here if someone wanted the books that I had?

If you go to the Love and Romance forum there is a book shelf deal thread where you can post that you have ARCs. You could offer them free with an order from your shelf.

Off topic a little, but how can a non-reader have a job that involves getting ARCs--aren't they given to reviewers and such?  LOL  I would love a job that gave me ARCs!

I would LOVE to have her job, and trust me I have tried to get one like it.  She deals in CD's, DVD's, and books....and gets free copies of all of them.

And would you all like to know something that just makes me SICK???  All of the books that are at major box stores (Wal-Mart) that go unsold...guess what happens to them??

The people/company that stocks those books take them off the shelf after whatever amount of time of going unsold and rip the front cover off to get "credit" and then they THROW THEM IN THE GARBAGE!  I could NOT believe that when I first heard it.  I've highly considered going for a dumpster dive! =]

You can offer them for a credit in the BB - there's a sticky thread at the top.

There was also a WL ARC Game starting but it's probably too late to sign up for it now.

If they are WL you might be able to get a credit for them in the Love/Romance forum or the Book Bazaar.  Asking a credit for an ARC or damaged book is allowed-you just can't post them to FIFO and then ask.  They have to be offered in teh BB,your signature or in the genre threads and what makes the book unpostable needs to be clearly listed.  I think most people wouldn't pay a credit unless the book was WL. If they weren't WL then I'd offer them as freebies with an order. If you offer them in teh genre threads make sure you use one of hte ongoing threads like the Is This On your WL thread or the Deal threads at the top.
