Hi there,

I was wondering how you all feel about someone's last name being written across the outer pages of books. someone used a sharpie and wrote on the side opposite the spine with their last name. it doesn't affect the readability of the book at all, and doesn't show up on the individual pages, or the covers. just on the sides of the page. Are these "marketable". lol

Thanks for any and all help you can give me!

A post from someone a while back said they had sent this question to the site leaders and they told her it was no different than if an ex-library book had a lib stamp there and the books were postable. Some thought it might be distracting and thought a PM about it would be nice. Most of us said just post them, they are perfectly fine here. I wouldn't send it if there were some conditions that made it look like the sender wanted really good condition books, otherwise this is a site for used books.

I've sent a book or two like this, but I always pm the person first.  :)  If it's not ok, they'll say so.

I think a PM is the way to go - I would be upset if someone sent this to me without asking for, but if they asked I would most likely say yes.
