My sister has her bookshelf on vacation (she did not have the funds to mail out books).  How would we be able to now take her bookshelf off of hold without her getting many requests?  We would like to be able to just mail out a few books a week.  I know she is going to have many books requested.

Thanks for your help

Patty

If you see a green or red W or Wa (wish list, or wish list auto request) next to a book, you can place that book on individual hold on her bookshelf.  (Check the tiny box to the right of the book's listing on your bookshelf, then go up to the yellow bar and click "hold.")  This way she will not get requests for these wish lists books when she takes her bookshelf off vacation hold.

Note that if you place non-wishlist books on "individual hold" on your bookshelf, you are stepping out of the FIFO line.  When you repost them, you'll be back at the end of the line for sending them.

But if you think she will have a number of other non-wish list books that will be up for request right away, and she doesn't mind ending up back at the end of the line, you can put some of those books on individual hold, too, before taking her bookshelf off vacation hold.

Then after a few days, or a few weeks, or months, if she doesn't have too many requests, you can start "posting" some of the books you've placed on individual hold.  You would check that little box, and then click "post" up in the yellow bar.

So if you 'hold' a book on your bookshelf, it automatically goes to the end of the line when you unhold it?  It's as if you just posted it?

Update: Never mind - just saw confirmation in another thread.  Well, that kinda stinks.  I thought it was like when you hold something on your WL; you keep your position but others wouldn't be able to request it.  Ah well, live and learn.
