Subject: Question About Box Sets...

I have a really nice box set (4 volumes) of "A Dream of Red Mansions" by Cao Xueqin and Gao E...

The set has a single ISBN number which is why I am hesitant to post because it wouldn't be worth it to post for a single credit...

Has anyone else figured out a way to get fair value for a set like this?

I figure 4 volumes for 2 credits would be right, but I don't know how to engineer that...

Well to get more than one credit for them you have to post them individually but then you can't guarantee that they'll all be ordered by the same person.   Is it WL?

I would advertise them in the book bazaar before I posted them to try and find someone who wants the whole set.  If they each have an ISBN# and aren't posted into the system-they can add those ISBN#s to their WL and you can post them directly to them.  Or you can post 2 of them w/o an ISBN-have them order directly from your shelf and then send the other 2 books and the box as freebies.  But you're more likely to send them out together if you find someone before you post them.

Do the books have individual ISBNs?  If they do, you can post them separatey and advertise in the Book Bazaar, and maybe put a note in your profile too, that you have a box set of 4 volumes you will give to someone for 2 credits.  If the books don't each have their own ISBN, you can still post them, it just takes a little more work.  If you want to send them as a set and don't want them to get ordered individually, you can hold off on posting them until you have someone interested in them.

Thanks for the reply...

The books would be no good to anyone individually, but unfortunately the set has a single ISBN...

I thought about posting them without the ISBN as you suggested...

Jeffrey--

The individual books don't have their own ISBNs on the back cover or the back of the title page?

If not, you might check with folks on your buddy list and favor that genre to see if they might have some on their wish list.

Good luck!

Definitely check out the back of the title pages for the individual ISBNs.  If they don't have them, then I'd advertise in your profile, signature line, and Book Bazzar about the set and that you'd like 2 credits for the 4 books.  Once you have someone interested, you can post 2 of the books as books without ISBNs and then the other person can request those 2 books from your shelf.
