Hi,
I requested a book and supposedly the book was to be mailed within a certain amount of time. However, when I looked at my transaction archive, I saw that the book request was cancelled by the sender. Can a person cancel something after they have already said the book would be mailed? I guess the obvious answer is "yes." Now the same book is under my request list with the note that it will be mailed within a certain amount of time (but a later date than the previous one). I am assuming that this is a different person, although I can't tell at this point. Is it unusual for a sender to cancel a request? I hope so!
Thanks, Katlover |

If you have an address that PBW can't find to offer the d/c on, that may be why your request was cancelled. ..just a thought.. |

What do you mean, that PBW can't find? I don't understand. |

Sorry... I should have said the post office. |

Sorry, I still do not understand. How could a post office not "find" my address? I get stuff mailed to me all the time. It is a residential address. |

Sorry... I should have explained that better. When the person shipping the book tries to print the wrapper, IF they use delivery confirmation, PBS checks with the post office and then prints the wrapper. If delivery confirmation isn't available for an address, then it tells the person trying to print the wrapper that it isn't available. Some people are nervous about shipping to an unconfirmed address when they can't track the book and confirm that it was received. |

OK, now I understand what you are saying, but I am sure that I have received other items with delievery confirmation because there have been times I have had to sign for them (and if I have not been home I have had to go to the post office to pick up a package). I do a LOT of transactions on eBay and lots of sellers automatically do delivery confirmations (I always do as a seller). So I don't think that is it, although I appreciate your thoughts.
Maybe the person just decided to re-read it again or something. I don't have any conditions, so that isn't it. There was no PM with an explanation from the person. Since it is in my transaction archive though, I could PM her and ask. Do you think that would be OK? I am really very curious. I did cancel one transaction myself (as a requester) because I couldn't wait for the second book in a trilogy and went to the bookstore and bought it. However, I cancelled it BEFORE the label was printed by the sender. So I know these things happen for various reasons. Thanks Again, Katlover |

The sender may have cancelled for any number of reasons, couldn't find the book, dropped in in the sink just before they wrapped it, whatever. When they cancel, if there is another copy of the book available in the system, your request will automatically be sent to the next person in the FIFO line with a copy of the edition you have requested. If there is not one available, the book will be placed on your WishList. Hope that helps. |

I have a book pending that I requested on 8/5***it was accepted on 8/6***wrapper printed on 8/6***and sender cancelled on 8/12....now I am waiting for the next member to accept. I guess you can cancel at any point in the transaction (as the sender) Last Edited on: 8/13/07 11:33 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
