What do you do when someone backs out of a deal after she sends just one book? This member said she would do a 3-1 deal as I was ordering one book from her. She accepts the order and ships it. I noticed though that she hadn't taken the other books I requested off of her shelf. She emails me a day or two after she ships the book and tells me "sorry, but I didn't have the money to ship the other ones so you are only getting the one book". What do I do? I canceled another wish-list request that came in because I was getting the book from her and now I am not getting that book. Is there anything to do or is it just the way it works? Sorry about rambling it just gets kind of frustrating:)

Charity,

So sorry this happened to you. You were cheated. You should get your credit back. You might try PM'ing the sender and request your credit back. If they do not respond or say no, you can always contact the PBS team and they will be able to advise you. See "Contact Us" at the bottom of your screen (on the right).

I hope this works out for you.  Fortunately, this is an unusual circumstance. Most members here are honest.

Blessings,
Christina

I would report her to PBS.  You may not get your credit back but maybe they can put you back on top of the WL for the one you cancelled.  Was the WL book she was sending you unpostable?  And PBS will probably send her a reprimand.  They may even freeze her account if she did this to other people who complained.

Report her to PBS and see if they will reinstate you into the WL line.  This is the only way to weed out the problem accounts.  Like Mary said, PBS won't get involved with the swap as far as the credit, but they will take this activity seriously.  Sorry this happened.

Make sure you have a copy of the correspondence agreeing to the deal or PBS will not do anything without a paper trail.  Good Luck

That sucks.  I hope that this person understands that media mail prices go by the pound, so mailing one book will cost $2.38 and mailing three will cost, at most, $3.16...

I have PM'd her to see about getting the credit back. I will see how she responds. I know money is tight at times but to me, if you make a deal with someone you go through with it. This is the first time this has ever happened to me on here so I know most people are not like this. The wish-list book wasn't unpostable but what happened was I ordered the first book in the series and she also had the second one in the series on her shelf so I got that one as well in the deal. Well, I had the 2-in-1 on my wish-list but as I was getting them from her I canceled it. I can probably find it on here again it was just irritating to have it happen that way. I have been on the wish-list for several months and just when it gets listed I have this happen. Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I am whining. Maybe it will all work out o.k and she will send me my credit back. If she does, should I send the book back to her? Thanks for all your thoughts everyone:)

You are not whining, Charity, you have every right to be upset and vent about this. Most unfortunate is that PBS will not get involved with the deal since they are not sanctioned, but do report her as someone else said, because if she's done this to others, they WILL talk to her about it at the least.
