Subject: Question About Delivery Confirmation

I mailed a  two-book package 15 days ago at the PO.  I'm in SC and the recipient lives in NJ.  I bought the Delivery Confirmation for 80-cents.

In tracking the package on the USPS site, it indicated that the package had arrived at the recipients post office 9 days ago but it has not been delivered.

I sent a PM to the recipient and gave her the tracking # so she could check it for herself and perhaps inquire at the PO about it.  I haven't heard from her.

Questions:  Is the package sitting around at the PO waiting to be delivered?  Could it be lost at the PO?

The recipient used a different address than her own or else mailed it to a friend b/c it was "In Care Of" the name of a business.  But still she got my PM about it.  Does the address thing make a difference?

Anybody have any similar situations or any thoughts?  Thanks!

The "In Care Of" doesn't have to mean they had it sent to someone else.  It could simply be that, for security, they prefer to receive their PBS packages at their work address, or have a tiny mailbox and made arrangements with a local store to accept packages for them.

Caroline, unless the receiving member answers your pm, it sounds like you've done about all you can at this point.  Your post office may be willing to contact the terminus post office for additional information.  Sounds like you used USPS DC, is there a reason you didn't use PBS DC?  Otherwise the credit would have already transferred to your account, and you wouldn't be at the mercy of a possibly non responsive member.

I'm also wondering why you'd pay .80 for DC through the PO with no credit guarantee instead of buying it cheaper through PBS with a credit guarantee.

I have a book that went lost to me that was scanned at my PO on Jan 8th and I still haven't seen this book.  I checked at the PO and they said it was delivered. Not to me.

Have you checked their account-it's vacation season. If they are having their books sent to work and they are on vacation they may have just not have gotten it yet.  Not all PO's scan at the place of delivery.  Mine scans at the post office and then the book gets to me a day or two later.

To be perfectly honest----and this is embarrassing!---after three years on the sight and sending and receiving over 100 books, I wasn't even aware that purchasing Delivery Confirmation thru PBS was an option!  I've only noticed it used twice on books I have received recently.  Believe me, I will be using it from now on!

Caroline,

You can go to the USPS website, "find a location", type in the zip code where the package was sent, then click on "more info", it will give you the phone # for that post office. I have done that a couple of times for missing packages. They are always very helpful. They may be able to tell you if the package was delivered or is still sitting in the post office waiting for pickup, etc. I once found that a package was mis-delivered and had it corrected.

Blessings,

Christina

Thanks, Christina!  I will definitley try that.

To everyone else, I am preparing a package to mail and purchased some PBS money so I can have PBS Dellivery Confirmation!  I still can't believe I didn't realize before now that that feature existed!

Happy Reading to all!
