I need advice from some of you...

I moved in July (same town, different house) and placed a forwarding address with my Post Office. Just last week, I have had a problem receiving bills from my Doctor's office & my newspaper. They told me they were coming back to them marked undeliverable. They are addressing them correctly to my new address. I am receiving all other mail just fine (I may be missing some & not know it though) including the stray piece addressed to my old address and forwarded.  What in the world could be going on? Do I need to go to my PO and ask?

You can handle this a couple of ways, Terri. You can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777). They'll check on your change of address request and document the problem (previous address, current address, delivery problem, etc.) What happens is they generate a computer printout that is sent to your delivery office with this information on it for the delivery supervisor who checks with the delivery carrier.

Or, you can call your delivery office and tell them the problem you're having. And sometimes it helps to talk to your carrier if you happen to see him/her. It may be a problem with a new carrier unfamiliar with current residents, a temporary replacement carrier, etc, although the usual problem in these situations would be delivery of previous residents' mail.

one thing that MIGHT have happened is that a replacment carrier carried your route and didnt know that someone new had moved into that address. I always have an address label stuck to the inside of my mailbox so any new carriers can match up the name and #.

Whenever I move I tape a piece of paper with our last name written on it in the box so the postal carrier will see a change has taken place.  However, that being said....I did just that, and still got a call from my son's school saying they got mail delivered back to them, this with the correct new address on it, because of course I changed that information with my son's school right away, so who knows..................???????
