Question for today - Do you prefer to have a pretty clear discription of the hero/s and heroine in the paranormal/romance/erotica novels you read? The reason I ask is that I've read a few books for review recently that have no clear discription of the main characters. One of them is by a fave author of mine and wasn't typical in her previous books. I'm in chapter 9 - half way through the book - and not a word on the heroine other than she's thin. The men are briefly described in body type but other than that nada. For some reason, I have a harder time connecting with the characters if I don't have a pciture in my head of who they are. Is it just me? |

Weird, wonder why an author wouldn't at least give a quick general desciption of the main characters, especially in the genres you mentioned. That would really throw me, like you I have a harder time connecting with a character I can't "see". Maybe that's one reason why so few of my keeper books are mysteries (few descriptions of anything) or sci-fi (descriptions of everything but the people), I enjoy reading those generes, I just don't keep them. |

I hate not having a clear description! I just can't get into it as much if I can't picture the characters. |

I guess it depends on the book. Sometimes it's nice to have to put that imagination of mine to use.

I've come across this a few times recently. What I ended up doing is designing a default hero/heroine in my head. There was a book that finally threw in a few details about the man's looks near the end of the book, but I just ignored it at that point. lol.
