Hi there,

I'm brand new (last night) and after posting my books I got several requests and clicked the button saying I could mail them within two days. But the deadline says 1/9! I'm confused. Even with allowing for Sunday, that's still a lot more days than two.

I would appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me - I did look in the Help section and didn't see anything about it.

TIA

The mail by date is the one you chose.. but you do have a 48 hour window past that before it cancels the order (that plus 2 days date is the one you see in red).  Just remember to mark them mailed when you do mail them... otherwise after the red date passes.. the order cancels and even if you sent the book, you won't get the credit, because the order would have gone to the next person in the system.

From the help center (I used the term 'mailing a book' to search):

Your deadline to mark a book mailed appears in red on the transaction for the book on your My Account page

    • The deadline will be 11:00 PM ET, 5 days after the acceptance date if you click "I can mail within two days" when accepting the request
    • The deadline will be 11:00 PM ET, 2 days after the alternate mail-by date you choose if you click "I can mail LATER" when accepting the request

I think about it in the same way I think about my rent payment.  At my apartment complex, rent is due on the first of the month, but we have a 5-day grace period before it is officially "late."  This is the same concept.  You should mail it within two days, but they give you a grace period because life gets in the way of your best intentions sometimes!
