Received a book today.  Paperback, 39 pages. The book I ordered states it is a hardback with 416 pages.

However, the ISBN matches. 9780784723609

The book for that ISBN is The Standard Bible Storybook. This book I received has the same cover photo; however, the title is Ministry of Jesus from the Standard Bible Storybook.

My first thought was to immediately RWAP, but then I hesitated bc the ISBN does match.

Thoughts?

According to this section of the guidelines, the member should have posted it w/o ISBN.  The Binding has to match the listing, and in your case what you received did not match the listing.

. The publisher chose to assign the same ISBN to more than one version of this title.

Publishers sometime choose to assign the same ISBN to multiple versions of a book.  However, PBS can attach only ONE booktype to the listing for an ISBN.  If your book does not have the booktype assigned to the ISBN in the PBS database, you will need to post it with a customized listing, using the Post a Book Without an ISBN link on the Post Books page, so that the booktype matches your book.

Solution: You will need to post this book with a customized listing for the book, using the "Post Books without an ISBN" link on the Post Books page.

That's a RWAP!

ETA:  The Title, ISBN, & Author would also have to match, but the above info referenced the binding, so you'd probably want to stress that you received paperback and not the hardback.

What is the title in the database when you put the isbn in here at PBS, because the title of the book has to match also as well as isbn

I checked via Amazon and they are two different books (I'm pretty sure the one you received is an excerpt from the one you wanted). As the titles do not match, I think you're okay RWAPing. Though it is a very confusing situation and I might not ask for the credit back as I can see how someone might make a mistake.

When we post a book, the four things that have to match are:

  • Title
  • Author
  • ISBN
  • Book Type

If "large print" is mentioned in the listing, that has to match, too.

In this case the title doesn't match.

The book binding doesn't match either.  You got a paperback and you wanted the hardback.  It's a RWAP.  I would ask for the credit back.  Multiple things didn't match.  Title, book binding, and the number of pages.

Yes, it's a RWAP.

In addition to the ISBN matching when a book is posted, there are 4 other things that are REQUIRED to match.

1. Title
2. Author
3. Binding Type
4. Large Print Designation (where applicable)

So, while the number of pages don't have to match ... she sent you a different title. You are entitled to your credit back.
