In the guidelines, it says no torn pages. Is this only text pages or any pages?  I received a book that has the first two pages torn, but the only thing on them is author reviews and a list of the author's books.  Is this ok?  Thanks

technically probably not but you should probably mark it RWAP and let them know that torn pages aren't allowed.  It is up to you whether you ask for your credit back or not.

That's what I thought.  The thing is, I got it in a game.  I don't want to cause her a problem in the games, but I also don't want her to keep sending unpostable books.  I guess I'll PM the hostess and see what she says about it.  Thanks

I would agree with Leslie, but this is an issue that has people on both sides. I think there are tour guides that believe it is postable as long as it not a text page so this member may have been told by someone else it was OK to post.

Well I received a WL book that had 2 back pages torn out.  I think they were book adds or coupons or something.  I posted on here and was told that was probably ok.  I didn't mark it RWP but I'm afraid to repost it here.  Really it doesnt' affect my enjoyment of the book at all.  But I like to repost so I was disappointed.

This is interesting to me because I have had this situation before (received a book with a torn or missing non-text page).

The way I read this, it's okay to have missing non-text pages.  I would have a hard time believing that it's not okay to have torn, non-text pages, since you could just tear them out and it would be okay.

The book condition guidelines say:

  • No torn or chewed/gnawed pages
    • yes, that does say "chewed/gnawed".  That means no pet-chewed (or human-chewed) books.
  • No loose or missing text pages
