I have 2 questions. I ordered a book (Secret Life of Pi) and the outside is in very nice condition but the inside is highlighted. Quite a bit. It is in yellow hi-liter and it doesn't bleed through the pages or anything like that, but there is quite alot of hi-lighting throughout the entire book. I marked it as recieved with a problem and specified what the problem was, but I just want to verify that this *IS* a un-postable book, right?

Also, I have requested 2 books (each from a different member) and it seems that both were lost in the mail. I know that you can request certain things (small print only, large print only, non-smoking homes) but can I request confirmation request also to make sure books are mailed on time or at least within a reasonable period? The last 2 books I've ordered have been lost and it's getting frustrating! I don't know what to do?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, unless the sender got an "ok" from you about the hi-lighting that book is not postable.

You can put any Requestor Condition on your account that you want but, many of us will not use Delivery Confirmation so, you would be turned down alot. Besides Delivery Confirmation does not ensure that books are mailed or mailed on time.  I know it is frustrating but, you do get your credit back or it rolls on to the next person.

The sender did not let me know that there was hi-lighting in the book. I don't even know if the sender read the book because the previous sender still had their information in the book from when they mailed it. So I don't know where the hi-lighting came from...

Doesn't matter if your sender read it or not. They are responsible for checking the books that they post to make sure that they are postable. How they received it is their problem, not yours.

I'm surprised that you had 2 lost books on their way to you. You will get the credits back for them, and will be able to reorder them. Could it possibly be an issue at your post office? Are they losing / not delivering all your mail? Sometimes members have issues like that.

Did those 2 books happen to come from Alaska or Hawaii, or an APO? Those can take longer than the PBS allotted time.

Lost books happen sometimes. I personally would turn down an order with an RC requiring deliver confirmation. I use the printed posted once in a while but I would not want to be required to spend an extra .46 to mail out a book. I think that's asking too much.  You get your credit back when a book goes lost-you aren't out anything.

I would mark the highlighted book as RWP.  It's up to you if you want to ask for your credti back or not.  I base it on weather or not I can read the book without it bothering my eyes, falling apart or being too gross to read.  But I always mark unpostables as RWP-it's the only way to weed the bad senders out. And one RWP will not harm someone who normally sends out good books.
