I requested a book a few days ago and today I get an email from PBS saying that the member had this to say..."already requested by another member".  How is that possible?  Can more than one person request the same book?  I thought that once a book was requested it was put on hold and others couldn't see or request it.  Thanks.

Possibly someone requested it as part of a book bazaar deal before your request came through--and she didn't delete it fast enough--or maybe PBS had a glitch.  Disappointing, but it does happen.

The sender did a no-no.  They are supposed to honor the requests that are submitted through the FIFO.  Sorry that happened.  What book was it? - Maybe someone here has it.

They also could have had it in a box swap that wasn't fully approved yet, so they declined to send it to the FIFO requestor, choosing instead to save it for the boxer.  I've had books requested through Box swaps also be requested through FIFO at the same time and have always sent it to the FIFO requestor.

I've had that happen on box swaps an annoying number of times now. I will send to the FIFO requester if I haven't accepted the BOB on my end yet, but if I have accepted, I feel that I have to honor that and will cancel the FIFO request instead.
