I read Confession of a Shopaholic a few months ago.  Now I am reading Shopaholic Ties the Knot (p. 97), thinking it was the 2nd of the series, however, much to my chagrin, I just found out it is not the second, but the third of the series.  Is it necessary to read them in order?  Should I stop reading it and read the second first?  Or doesn't it matter?

I think it is necessary to read them in order because the events progress and the characters change. I am kind of particular about reading books in order, though!

I'm starting the fourth book of the series today.  It seems that Kinsella drops a few mini-summaries to update the reader throughout her series if there was a book skipped between at the least the first three (probably all five but I haven't got that far).  I personally am happy to have read them in order though because although you can catch the gist of the plot of the previous books with the info Kinsella drops here in there in re: to the previous books, you miss alot of the emotions (and the funny parts of the book!) you are supposed to build up while working your way through the series.

Personally in the first book, I didnt get any real connection to Luke Brandon like several readers did.  I just wasn't impressed with him all that much.  It took me to the end of the second book, and really up to the engagement in the third to get me to start feeling this emotional connection with his character.   Now I think he is just grand.

Adrienne - if you have seen the movie, you will see that (although twisted and not really very accurate) they combined both books 1 and 2 into the 1 movie....

Virginia -  I also like to read books in order and am very annoyed at myself for making such a stupid mistake.   arghh

Marche -  I did see the movie and hated it...  but just from reading as much as I have of #3 I can see that they combined the books.  Some of my big gripes of the movie were that  a-  it was in NY and not London and
