I have several American Girl books I'd like to post. There is a name written on the inside front cover, and according to the posting guidlines, that is ok. What I'm not sure about is that in the back of the book, there is a stiff page that is perforated with a postcard you can fill out and send to receive an American Girl catalog. All but one of the books has this postcard still intact. It's obviously been torn out in one book, although it is torn along the perforation, and there is no damage to the book. Since this is not essential to the reading of the book, is it still postable?

Thanks in advance!

I would think that is ok because it is to obtain a catalog and not something that really goes with the book as far as extra materials (like a map with a guidebook)

If you want a second opinion, I agree with Leslie, and she stated it very well.  The card is necessary to reading/using the book.

I also agree that it's okay to post without the mail order advertisement card.  I see that card as similar to the old cigarette ads that used to be in the middle of a lot of mass market paperbacks in the 1970s.  Having the card pulled out doesn't affect the book (unless, of course, when it was pulled out it messed up the binding or something).

The case where something pulled out of a book making a difference would be a travel book that came with a map. The map is an integral part of the book, because the book will be discussing things on the map. The book you have is not going to be discussing in the story anything about the pull-out card  :)

I tear out the book club inserts out of books all the time and then post them here. They annoy me when I'm reading a book.  Like the previous posters said as long as it isn't something that goes with the book like a map, sticker sheet or something that's intended to be used with the book. But a catalog or book club add is ok.
