I have 3 books on my Bookshelf that have wishes to them. The only thing
think different to the wishes and my books are the ISBN No. For example,
The Day After Doomsday book is so old that it didn't have and ISBN so PBS
issued one. The same thing is true for the 6 wishes that want the book.
It's difficult to me that all 6 wishers would not opt for the email that
would notify them that a different book was available.

The book "Almost Dead" just has a different ISBN no then that of the wisher. But it is the
same paperback book.

The book "Decipher" is the same as the one wish only again a different ISBN.

Isn't there anyway that the 'wishers' can be notified that their wish could come true
for the book they want?

Thanks for any help.

If the books have real ISBNs and are tied in the system to the wished for book then the system will send a "similar to wish" email that lets the wishers know that the book is available under another ISBN. You can also advertise your alternate versions in the Book Bazaar or in your siggy line, but there is no way for you to directly contact the wishing members. Many people really do only want the one ISBN they've wished for. Some are looking for specific binding or specific covers to match what they already have in sets. Some don't want older books because that often means more worn. If your version appears to be the same (like the wished if mass market paperback and your's is too) then applying a Book Tag to the Wished for edition might help. What I usually do is apply a tag like "paperback also available under ISBNXXXXX" to the wished for item.

There are 15 copies of your version of Decipher and over 500 of Almost Dead in the system already. If there are other versions WL then those people really want that version for some reason (they may know that it's large print or tradesize even if it's not designated in the system as such).  Or they just want a specific cover.   Or the wishers are dead accounts and the verson on WL just isn't posted very often.

Thanks to both of you for suggesting the Tagging. I'll do that.

MARY, I must be doing something wrong as I sure don't see 500 books in the system of
Almost Dead. I checked in Book Brouser under Posted,Unposted,Wished and All Books
and just don't see 500 in all categories together.

Just how did you find that amount???

If you add the book to your reminder list, it will tell you how many copies are currently posted.

Thanks so much. I have been mistaken for how many books of one ISBN are actually
available. I just never knew that before. I had thought that if only 4 books were listed as
posted that that was all there were. Live and Learn.

thanks to all of you.
