I've been a PBS member for a while but this is my first "problem" and I'm not sure how to handle. I received a different book than requested. I emailed the sender as instructed in the "received wrong book" instructions and she promtly wrote back that it was a mistake and gave me a credit. My question is- what do I do now? If I mark that I received the book I'll have to relist the book on my wish list which means I'll be at the end of the line. If I do nothing, will PBS deduct a credit from the sender's account? Since she already gave me a credit that would not be fair. Also, I don't want the sender to get a black mark. She made an honest mistake and tried to do the right thing by giving me a credit. Thanks in advance! Last Edited on: 2/10/13 9:37 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

You have NOT received your book. If she does not get it to you, then the book will be declared "lost" and you will go back on the wish list at the top. The sender has the option to contact PBS and cancel the order early. You don't. It is the sender's responsibility to try and fix this. How would depend on if she switched two book orders, and how willing the possible third member might be. That credit is basically expected if she wants you to mail the book somewhere. But she needs to let you know where. |

What Emily said. The sender can contact PBS admin and request the cancel the transaction. Depending on which option ends up happening, you can always buddy back a credit if you end up with two (and do not forward the book). |

I agree. Don't mark it received unless you get the book. Some info from the help center -- From your point of view: There's a help doc titled "I received a book I didn't request" that has a section that begins: If you received a book whose title you don't recognize (you did not request any version of this book) and there is no transaction for the book on your My Account page or in your Transaction Archive
And from her point of view: I sent the wrong book to another member (including: I mixed up two book requests)If she doesn't ask to you send the book on to the member who ordered it, then you can return her credit, since you'll get your credit back when the book goes lost. And when it goes lost, it will be back on your wish list. The only reason to keep the credit is to cover your postage if you are going to be mailing the book to someone else.
