I hope I am posting this in the right place.

I purchased a book today at a sale. The book is brand new, never read. I brought it home today and decided to post on here, but when I looked it up with ISBN on book it comes up as a hardcover.

This book is not a hardcover. It's not a typical paperback either. It is large size, the material used on cover is about 3 times thicker than typical paperback, but it is NOT a hardcover.

I rechecked the ISBN four times, it is accurate.

Am I permitted to post this book? I wanted to make sure before posting. Confused me, never happened before.

Thank you for all answers in advance. =)

Sometimes publishers get lazy and reuse ISBNs. You can post it as you would post a book without an ISBN ( http://www.paperbackswap.com/members/book_add_ninfo.php ).

  • If your book does NOT match the information in the Book Listing Preview:

    • If it is a minor difference, such as a misspelled title or the wrong author first name, you can post the book and submit corrections afterward using the Edit Book Data link.
    • If the booktype is different (if your book is a paperback, and the Preview shows hardcover, for example):
      • You will need to post the book without an ISBN
    • If the book title says "(Large Print)" and your book is regular-size font:
      • You will need to post the book without an ISBN

Possibly this book is an ARC (advanced reader copy). ARCs can'e be swapped because the contents of the book may be different from the mass published book.  There is a link below with an explaination of how to deal with this......

When I enter the ISBN on my paperback, the listing shows a hardcover!

Thanks for that info too. I wasn't sure, but I looked it over, there is no markings on it to indicate an ARC.

The book has been in print for quite some time and this is a newer release according to inside cover, so I guess they just got lazy and reused an old ISBN on it?

This one was stressing me out! lol. Thank you for all of the information and guidance, you guys are the best. =)

This sounds like it might be from Quality Paperback Book Club. They print books with the same layout as the hardcovers had and the same ISBN, but with a trade paperback cover.
