I browsed the Help Docs but didn't see an answer... sorry if I overlooked something.

I have decided to start writing book reviews, but I have a question about how they are posted.

For example, I wrote a review of The Alienist.  There are 8 different ISBNs available for that book.  If I write a review for the MMPB version, the review only appears under the MMPB version.  If I want my review connected to any copy (MMPB, TPB, HB, large print, etc)  I have to copy and paste my review to each individual ISBN.

Is this doing things the long way?  When I click on books I might like to order, I always look at the member reviews.  But if reviews are ISBN-speficic, then I don't really get to see all of the reviews.  The MMPB might have five reviews posted.  The HB might have two.  And all of them might be unique to each ISBN.

So I guess my question really has two parts:

1) If I want my review posted for each ISBN, do I have to copy and paste under each ISBN?

2)  If copy+paste is the only option, would it be possible to have some feature that allows a review to automatically post to each ISBN?  It seems like this would cut down on work by the reviewer and would allow readers to see the same reviews for each edition. Then again, if there are different books with the same title, I can see where that would be problematic...

Thanks for the help  :^)

I also like to post reviews for my books and read the reviews of others.  Unfortunately, as you've noticed, you do need to do things the long way and cut/paste review to every ISBN if you want them all to have it.  I think the programming to have the reviews automatically post to related ISBNs is probably pretty tricky, and linking the ISBNs so the reviews could do this seems like a rather complex programming feature.

Book descriptions/summaries and book images need to be added separately, so it makes sense that the reviews are the same way.  We who like to do reviews should just try to be more thorough to make certain our review makes it under all related ISBNs.  (Personally, I'd never even thought about it, but am going to go back to my reviews and also post them under related editions.)

First of all, I want to tell you that I took a look at your reviews so far and they are pretty awesome, good job.

Also, yes...you do have to do it the long way.   You could send in feeback (at the bottom through the contact us link) telling the site owners that you'd like to be able to do the reviews the easier way.  I'm sure they will at least look into it if they haven't already.  They are constantly trying to improve the site.

I'm not surprised to hear that there would probably be some pretty complicated programming involved to link reviews and all related ISBNs. I can see where that would be far more complicated for the site to accomplish than for reviewers simply using copy+paste.  I had a feeling that would be the main answer I would get. It's just nice to confirm that I'm not missing out on some super easy step that I didn't know to look for at first.

Sarah, thanks for checking out my reviews!  Like I said, I'm new at this.  It's good to know that I'm on the right track!
