John -- Sometimes UK edition books have different titles than US editions, use British English instead of American English, have different release dates, have different covers, and/or use different paper quality so sometimes people prefer one over the other. As far as I know, the only difference between the UK  vs. US editions of The Sunne in Splendour are the cover and author's name. In the UK, Sharon goes by Sharon Penman; in the US, Sharon is listed as Sharon Kay Penman -- no difference in content as far as I know.

There could be some spelling differences too. I think they spell color "colour".
