Has anyone ever gotten a book that had the wrong ISBN# on it? This week I received six books from Harlequin. One of the books was Body Heat by Brenda Novak with ISBN# 978-0-373-60223-0. When I put it in the system to add it to my bookshelf it comes up as a Silhouette Spotlight book called Their New Years Babies by Debbie Macomber and Marie Ferrarella. |

I haven't personally, but it's been discussed periodically here in the forums. Basically, some publishers reuse ISBNs. There's often no rhyme or reason, though sometimes it's just the same ISBNn for a HC and PB of the same title. If you want to list the book here, use 'post without an ISBN'. It's rare and not likely that PBS would 'change' the book data to match the book you have in hand. You would have to prove, by finding that exact ISBN used for your book and finding no others actual books posted with the other title. It's much less trouble to post without an ISBN. |

I've never gotten any, but have tried to post a book and when I put in the ISBN another, completely different book came up with that ISBN, making the original book I wanted to post unpostable under the ISBN on the book and I had to use the PBS 'fake' ISBN to post it. Pat |

We're starting to see quite a few of these now from Harlequin. For years they didn't re-use numbers at all, but quite a few that were published 20+ years ago are now showing up again - especially for the Spanish language imprints, like Deseo... |

if the book is a mass market pbk you know I guess that the correct isbn is the one printed on the inside of the front cover. not the one on the back cover. |
