I mailed a book on January 3rd.  Today (January 10th), it still lists the book as being Quick Credit Pending.  Has anyone ever had it take this long for the postal service to scan the barcode?

I'm getting a bit worried that it has been lost/stolen, but I can't prove I've even mailed the book until they scan it!   I've never had a problem printing my labels on PBS before, but this has me really flustered...

Once in a while, these things vary.  But it's also one of the main reasons I buy PBS DC and counter postage, my books are scanned as part of the postage transactions.  My books are usually scanned again the next day at the nearby Media Mail sorting center.  But again, not always...once in awhile one slips through and isn't scanned again until delivery.

In December I had a book kinda get stuck in one location for 10 days or so, it finally got moving again and arrived safely a few days later.  Hope your book arrives soon!

If I mail the books from the box near work, they go to Jacksonville before they are scanned, which takes usually 5-7 days, sometimes more.  If I mail from the box near my house, they get scanned that day (it's a small post office). Next time you could try mailing from a different location and see if it makes a difference.  It shouldn't but since it does in my case, it's worth looking into.  Hope it is scanned soon!

I have had a DC take a few days to be scanned if I've mailed it in the local blue box.  I don't remember whether it was a whole week.

Not to worry, you'll still get your credit even if the book hasn't been scanned.

If your package is not delivered and is never scanned by USPS, the PBS system has never been told to give QuickCredit

  • In this case, CreditAssurance comes into play--contact us, and if you have a good sending record, you will get your credit!

Thank you, Ruth.   I hope I don't have to use this (it looks like from what people posted above that it could take awhile), but I'm glad such a thing exists.

I got a thank you today for a book that was still "pending" as of last night and never was scanned.  It seems to happen to about 1 out of 5 books I send out.

I buy PBS DC and postage at the window.  I pretty much stand there until they have scanned my package.  That way, all my stuff shows "acceptance" by USPS.

Once in a while I see them throw it into the out bin w/out scanning, and then I remind them:  "did you scan that?"  LOL
