I found one or two where the person wrote "I have not read this book." Finding this interesting, I clicked on their profile and discovered that about half the books they had on their shelf had this same "review". I clicked the thumbs down for them all. I won't give the person's name here, of course. :) Why would anyone think this is a review? I did the same thing recently where someone had put in all their reviews "This book has a dustjacket," or "This book does not have a dustjacket."

maybe they were given the books?  I received 4 boxes of books from my parents and that makes up 75% of my bookshelf.  while I have read some, I haven't read most of them.  although I wouldn't put a review saying I hadn't read it because that isn't a review!

Perhaps when they are entering their data they are under the impression that they have to answer every question/enter something in every field rather than just passing that section.

Reviews aren't required when one posts a book - it's completely optional. Reviews should refer only to the poster's impression of the written content, and not the physical condition of the book.

Keep in mind when the site first started,  there was not all this reviewing and thumbs stuff. When we were NOT a million books, my copy might be the only one. I thought I had to put something in so I put in "I have not read this" So that is why I have a few of those floating around. I'll bet some other oldsters have those as well.

This review and thumbs thing is kinda new.
