Written by an author who was active during the Harlem Reniassance in NYC during the 1920-30's. The fictionalized story of a mixed race woman trying to finding "her" place in society is somewhat autobiographical. It is filled with detail of the time period and the cultural atitudes, which can be challenging at times, but also realistic. A literary book in its language and grammar.
