Ok, I've rec'd a second trade with a smoky smelling book in less than a month!

This time the sender paid over $6 for  2 heavy HCs!  Second book I ordered (using the order more from member), they mailed in a separate envelope.  It too had a smell, but wasn't smoke--maybe they tried to cover it up somehow? Or knew the other book was smoky and didn't want it to contaminate the other one?  But are people ignoring RCs lately since one didn't satisfy my RC to not have a smoky smell and not be in a smoking household?

PBS page put these together as one mailing so it was kind of funky to answer the received questions.  Should I notify the powers that be or will they automatically see my PM to the sender since I marked one as not meeting my RC?

The PMs sent when marking a book received are attached to the transaction record, so PBS should be able to understand how things went down in this particular instance.

And that's exactly why I don't accept scent RCs.  Too subjective.  The book may not have been in a smoking environment and the sender may not have had as keen a sense of smell.  She may have thought that what she was sending was perfectly okay.

Unless an RC specifically says 'not from a home that currently has smokers' or something similar I also decline smell requests as too subjective.  Sorry you got books with smells like that.  Pat

Nobody at PBS reads the RWAP descriptions, until they either need to review an account, OR if you report the other member as being rude, OR if you report that the other member admits specifically in writing that they sent a book that breaks the rules but still refuses to refund a credit.

Otherwise, a RWAP is just a he-said/she-said situation that PBS cannot and does not mediate. And they don't have time to go in and read the messages about things that have not been reported to them as specifically needing their attention.

RWAPs are almost always handled between the two members who have the disagreement about the transaction. Ask for your credit back on the book that smelled like smoke, since that is in your RC. The other book that smelled "not like smoke" ... I don't know if you can RWAP on that, depends on how your RC is worded.  Go from there.

If the other member is rude (not just terse, but outright rude) or admits that the book broke your RC but they won't refund the credit, then you can report them specifically to PBS. But otherwise, PBS will not get involved at all, nor will they be aware of the issue. Altough, yes, the message will be in the transaction record for them to go look at in the future, if they need to.
