I like to think of RCs as favors and word them accordingly. How about: If I am requesting a Hardcover, please include the book/dust jacket. If this is not possible, please turn down this RC. If I am requesting a paperback book, then I have no conditions. Thank you.
That changes the wording to a request rather than a want. There is an older thread that I read when editing my RC. http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=166150 Laura suggested some dust jacket wordings. Here are some of her suggestions: Does this hardcover book have its dust jacket? If the answer is no, please decline this request. or If the book is missing its dust jacket, please decline this request or Please include the dust jacket with all hardcover books.
The tone of the request really matters. Last Edited on: 7/10/09 2:14 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Some people just turn down RC's because. They just refuse to deal with them under any conditions. I've seen some of them here when RC's are discussed "I don't accept a request that has an RC." Others will say RC's don't bother them at all. Sounds like you ran into two people that just don't accept RC"s. I think I might have a book going to you. I either saw your RC or one very similar. I'm sending a paperback so no worries there. :) |

If you are just ordering paperbacks, can't you turn your RC off all together? I thought that was an option now, to turn them off and on with each transaction? It would save a lot of grief, I'm sure. Then you only need to have it turned on if you are ordering a hardcover book. Cheryl |
