Can anyone think of a better way to do rc's?  I was turned down for a WL book because of my conditions. My rc said   If this is a book for credits there are no conditions if it is for BOB i would like to do trades of 2 to 4 books. The person who turned me down  said it was because they only had one book to send not 2 or 4.

Here's what I'd do.  I'd word it and format it exactly this way:

My conditions are for Box-O-Books only.  If this is not a BOB trade, please accept the request.

For BOB:  I would like to do trades of 2, 3, or 4 books.

Thank you!

Another option:

Requestor Conditions for Box-of-Books Transactions ONLY:  I will do BOB transactions with 2-4 Books.

Personally, I would just remove the RC.  If you get a box request with only 1 book or more than 4, you can just politely decline.

I'd go with Sheryl on this one.  I would just turn down any BOB offers I wasn't interested in for whateve reason. Plus you can negotiate BOBS for more or less books if both parties agree. So someone might offer you a bob for 10 books and you can reduce it to 3 or 4 if you want or just say no thanks.  You don't have to accept eveyr BOB offer. I turned down the first 3 or 4 that I got because they wanted almost my whole shelf and had nothing of interest to me.

You might get more turn downs w/the conditions left in place. Some people turn down any book request that has a condition, no matter the condition.  Someone new might not know what BOB means.  I didn't when I first joined.  I kept seeing it mentioned and had to ask.

Ditto Sheryl.  If someone wants more, it's easy enough to PM them and say you want to do a box for fewer.

I'll echo the people saying to get rid of the RC. You can control BoBs through that system so you don't really need to have the RC for that. People who don't BoB and are never in the forums may have no idea what you are talking about.

Sorry about that.  I have a book being requested and in the conditions it says not broken bindings.  Okay the book I have to send the binding is not broken away from the pages but is bent from reading.  Is that a broken binding or is it okay to accept the request and send.  I don't want to send it and then not get the credit.

<<Personally, I would just remove the RC.>>

I agree with this as well.  You might consider putting a note in your profile about your boxing preferences.

<<Okay the book I have to send the binding is not broken away from the pages but is bent from reading.  Is that a broken binding or is it okay to accept the request and send>>

From the Help Center:

"Older books may have some page yellowing or spine-creasing or dogeared pages; these are all OKAY.

Binding:

  • Must be intact, with no separation on the inside or outside of the book
  • If the book tends to open at a particular page, this is OKAY
  • Small amount of fraying or denting at top or bottom is OKAY"
If your book meets these conditions, it should be ok to post.

Cheers,

Catt

Catt,

Thanks for the info.  Just wanted to be sure of my interpretations.  I thought it is okay, but wanted another opinion.
