On matters relating to the Titanic, this is a contemporaneous account and the various theories and differing accounts are treated as conversations, impressions and gossip of the day. They are based on witness statements and testimonies after the sinking, plus current research. The reader can investigate and decide which they feel is the "real" reason the Titanic ended up on the bottom of the Atlantic. Most of the statements and quotes of the remarkable Arthur Rostron are based on his actual words or statements and the texts of the Marconigrams are historical as well.
