Last Friday (3-2-12) I received a book, and I noticed that there was underlining throughout the book; it was not a textbook. I RWAP and asked the sender to refund my credit as I couldn't repost the book in this condition. I have not heard from the person since. Should I care, or is there anything I can do, or is it just not worth the bother?

IIRC Brittany, there is a new procedure for RWAPs that receive no reply.  You have to give the sender 5 or 7 days to reply, but you have already done that.  But first, have you checked your credit archive?  Some members just refund the credit without leaving any comment.

If not, then I think in your transacton archive there is a button for that book...something like 'no response'??  If you click on that  the PBS automated system will generate a reminder to the sender that they are required to respond to a RWAP.  If still no response in a few days, then you should contact TPTB.

I'm stll a bit sketch on this new option, so wait for a tourguide or more experienced member to confirm (or correct) me.

From the help docs:

If you don't hear from the sender within 5 days:

  • For problem books that were marked received and are now in your Transaction Archive: go to your Transaction Archive  and click .  Then choose "The Sender has not responded."  This will send an email to the sender, making it clear that she or he needs to respond or forfeit credit for this swap.

If you don't hear from the sender within 2 days after you have done the above to send that "follow-up" email to the sender, contact us.  Failure to respond (in an active account) is considered admission of fault in a problem swap.

I did not even know I could check my credit archive. I just checked it and there was no credit refund. Could you tell me what the TPTB is?

Just so you know, you can post the book again as long as you 1. PM the next requestor of the book and 2. get their acceptance of the book with writing in it.

PBS considers that any book could be used as a textbook. So, as long as you PM and the requestor replies that they still want it, you can send it. If they don't want it after all, then you cancel the transaction.

TPTB is The Powers That Be (or in other words, PBS). Use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page to contact them.

The PBS Team considers non-response as an admission of fault, so if they don't respond a few days after you click that non-response followup in your Transaction Archive, make sure you don't forget to contact the Team.  They will refund your credit if the member is active and not responding.

I had one a few weeks ago where I did a RWAP, no response (some places it says 5 days, others it says 7, so I waited 7), hit the no response button that alerts TPTB.  Within an hour I'd gotten my credit back.  She stated she never got my initial PM, so I sent a copy along with it.  Good luck. Pat

Same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago (RWAP).  It's the first time I've ever RWAP'ed a book.  I wasn't even asking for a credit back, but thought they would at least respond?!!

UPDATE:  After marking the transaction as not being contacted, PBS must have contacted her because she PM'ed this morning about my RWAP.  I'm happy to say that the issue is resolved.  :-D
