I had a hardback on my wishlish, I specifically wanted hardback. I recieved a paperback.

I said

"Hello, I was disappointed to see this was a not a hardcover as I specifically wanted this book in hardcover. According to PBS regulations the book does have to match the type that you are posting it under. I would appreciate a return of my credit since I still want the hardcover version of this book. Thank you."

They said, "Will give you credit but that specification was not made clear to me, and this is "paperback" swap after all!"
Not really complaining, since I got my credit back, still...

LOLOLOL! (Sorry Robert...don't mean to laugh I've just never heard that one.)

I would have directed this member to the Help Docs, specifically: Is PBS only for paperback books? & How to post a book

That's funny. I too would let them know that they need to read the guidelines because you can also trade audiobooks here.

Hahaha. They must have had their eyes closed when they posted the book. I would also recommend telling them they should probably read the Help Center a little to make sure their other books are posted in accordance to the site rules.

I'm sorry, but I giggled at the response. However, you are correct, binding does have to match, so it is a RWAP.

So now I'm completely confused.  If you are requesting a Hardback on your WL, then why would a Paperback version even come your way?

I must commend you, Robert, on your very nicely phrased reply; I would've been much more curt.

They must of listed by title? I realy don't know. It is a common enough book I'm sure I will get the right book soon enough. It is a bit funny. I may refer them to the help docs since he replied telling me to be more careful.

Janny-it came his way because the person didn't pay attention when listing the book.  Either they put in the ISBN and didn't notice that it was a reused ISBN and the listing didn't match, or they just listed by the picture and didn't look at the listing, or they saw that the hardcover was WL and the paperback wasn't so they posted to the hardcover WL hoping no one would complain.

Or they could be like me and not really care about binding and who doesn't compair ISBN/Binding when they receive a book.  Then reposted the book using the bookshelf hold or TBR pile and didn't check to see if everything matched. I don't check when I get a book, it just doesn't occur to me and I don't really care what binding I get.  But I do double check when I relist.  Only once did I actually find one to be wrong.

I had to mark a book like that as well. I had a fiction title on my list that I actually scanned the ISBN off of a library copy, yet I received an earlier Book Club edition with no ISBN. There's all sorts of editions of this title in the system, so I'm assuming that since there was no ISBN the poster just narrowed the search down to which entry for the title had requests. I marked it RWAP because the guidelines state the ISBNs have to match and that there's a separate way to post books without ISBNs, but I don't know what will come of it. It's a minor problem, I agree, but I figure it should at least go on the record for future reference. I guess any time we run into an RWAP, we can always just add the experience to our Requestor Conditions list and make it an official decree!
