Just tooting my own horn here, but I was just camping in the Adirondacks, where it rained a few times each day, and I managed to keep my book completely DRY the whole week!   My friends were really laughing at me - I kept the book in a plastic ziploc when not reading, and when it started to rain, I grabbed the book and threw it in my car before saving dry towels on the line and such!   I was determined to come home with a postable book.  WOOHOO!    :)

You sound like my long lost sister! ;D  I'm notorious for my "Nazi" attitude toward the treatment of books.  I get it from my Dad who was a printer coming from a family of printers.  And I get it from my Mom who loved to read but growing up in the depression she never got any books to read that weren't school books.  They were "homesteading" in New Mexico and there were no libraries around them.  So I was raised withthe attitude that books are highly valuable and almost sacred.  I love books!  ;D
