"It is the greatest day of Ramona's life. She is in kindergarten and she loves her teacher, Miss Binney. She likes a little boy named Davy so much she wants to kiss him. She's fasinated by Susan's reddish brown curls that bounce like springs when she runs. Ramona is thrilled about all the new things to see.

So how in the world does Ramona get in trouble? Well, anyone who knows Ramona knows that she is never a pest on purpose." This is a funny book!!!

My daughter enjoys Junie B Jones books, so I thought I'd introduce her to my favorite character/books from when I was her age. She loves Ramona! It is an easy and enjoyable read to share with your child or great for early readers!

So how in the world does Ramona get in trouble? Why is the sitting on a bench when the rest of the class is playing Gray Duck? Why does Davy run as fast as he can when Ramona comes near him? And how does Ramona disrupt the whole class during rest time? Well, anyone who knows Ramona knows that she is never a pest on purpose.

The engaging tale of young Ramona Quimby's first days in kindergarten, Ramona the Pest takes a pint-sized perspective on the trials and delights of beginning school. Ramona can't wait to learn all the important things. But she's disappointed when her teacher can't fill in missing parts of story lines, such as how Mike Mulligan (of Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel) went to the bathroom while digging the basement of the town hall. Nonetheless, Ramona loves her teacher, and loves going to school in spite of the torments--having to wear hand-me-down boots, for example, or having to (sometimes) suppress the urge to pull on another girl's "boing-boing" curls. Ramona's energetic take on life appeals to children who have passed through this stage, or who are dealing with a kindergarten-age sibling who is exhibiting Ramona-ish tendencies. (Ages 7 to 12)

I loved this book as a kid in the 70s and I am sure kids today would love it as much as I did.

From the ever popular Beverly Cleary. Sometimes a littler person has to be a little bit nosier and a little bit more stubborn in order to be noticed at all (this from the front cover.

Ramona Quimby is excited when she goes to her first day of kindergarten. She goes with her mother and the Kemps. When they arrive to the classroom, the teacher tells Ramona to sit for the present. Only Ramona thinks that it is a real present as a prize. No one gets told about a present. When the teacher assist into playing "Gray Duck" Ramona sits. The teacher is embarrassed as well is disappointed Ramona. Ramona longs to pull on Susan's long curls.

When Ramona's turn proceeds, she pulls on Susan's curl and gets in trouble. The classroom goes in for resting time and Ramona, to show that she is resting, begins to snore softly. Susan is quiet and resting and is chosen to be the Wake-Up Fairy. Susan picks Ramona last. On the next day, Ramona brings Chevrolet to school, her doll. Howie doesn't have anything so Ramona gives him a beat up rabbit. The teacher gives Howie a ribbon and Ramona thinks it is her. Howie gives back the rabbit but not the ribbon so he and Ramona fight for it.

Howie loves to take wheel, takes on wheel off Ramona's trike and gives her the ribbon. The fight is over. Ramona then sees Davy and the more she sees him the more she longs to kiss him. Ramona begins to chase him around the playground every day. Ramona comes to school one day and instead of Mrs. Binney, she sees a substitute. Ramona feels that Mrs. Binney had left them alone and runs away. She hides behind the trash cans but is found by her sister Beezus. Beezus sends her back to her classroom where Ramona does seatwork.

Ramona finds a worm and wraps it around her finger acting like it is an engagement ring. Ramona later decides she will be marrying Henry when he saves her and her new boots from sinking on the mud puddle. It is Halloween and Ramona decides to be 'The Baddest Witch in the World'. Ramona pulls Susan's curl without being notices, and she even kisses Davy. Ramona feels forgotten so before the parade she goes inside her room and rights 'Ramona Q.' on a card and goes on.

Ramona is happy because her tooth had fell off and the class admire it. Susan calls Ramona a pest so Ramona pulls her curls. Ramona gets in trouble and is sended outside, where she feels picked on. Ramona goes home and realizes she left her tooth with Mrs. Binney. Ramona then begins to feel picked on and decides that she will never go back to kindergarten. Beezus makes fun of Ramona, as so does Mary Jane. Ramona begins to feel mad until Howie comes with a letter for Ramona. It's from Mrs. Binney and it has her tooth. Ramona then decides she will go to school tomorrow, but Howie says she can't because it is Saturday.

(Mr. Quimby doesn't appear until the last two chapters.)
