When reading a romance novel, you have to expect that "they" can't get together until the end of the book - very silly. This book was the same, however, the reason they couldn't be together - ahh, the drama - was very lame. I will put this author on my "no list".

Rancher Will Sullivan is getting a second change at his first love, missionary nurse Annie Harris. She returns home to Oklahoma to convalesce at his ranch, which is undergoing a makeover of sorts: Will has partnered up with a marketing firm run by a married couple in order to generate some cash flow. Annie and Wills friendly banter is the best part of the book. For the most part, nothing really happens; Annie heals and loves Will; Will loves her back but is afraid to commit to her because of a medical problem hes kept from nearly everyone.

The back cover blurb describes a senseless scandal and thats exactly what it is. A non-entity. The married partner, Marguerite, sees Will and Annie holding hands while attending a state fair. From this innocent gesture, she presumes that they are friends with benefits and tells Will that this could threaten their partnership. This is such a stupid plot point it barely merits mentioning. I cannot imagine where, in 21st century America, that holding hands now equates with fornication, and I live in the Bible Belt. Its a sweet romance for sure, but Ive read much better.
