This book by Frederick Schiller Faust (aka Max Brand) was a bit overly melodramatic, and reminded me of some of Zane Grey's novels, which I also enjoy. It's about a good man who needs to become a bad man so he can return to being a good man. Frankly, I didn't think he was all that smart. Fortunately, he was lucky to have good friends. Better yet, he still got the girl at the end.
