Although I've read about Ray Charles' life before, this book had some new info. I wasn't aware he had ten confirmed children, with and without marriage. The information that Ray's mother and grandmother raised him together (he called one "Mama" and the other "Mother."
The death of Ray's younger brother has been widely reported, but added to the mix of Ray's difficult childhood; it adds pathos to his situation. Perhaps he had so many serial relationships because he had no male role model in his young life, except for Mr. Pit, who had the piano in his store -- an interesting and short read.
