I'm doing some cleanup on my current books to swap, and want to see my bookshelf in "posted" order. However, when I choose Posted as the option for ReSort, I seem to get a sort by title. Ascending/descending switching works, but the criteria does seem to be title--if I choose to ReSort by title, the listing is the same. (ReSort by Author does give me a different listing and it's (mostly correct) by author.) Am I missing something, or is this a known problem? And if it's not working, can anyone suggest a way for me to get a listing of my currently listed books with the date I posted them? "Download", unfortunately, not only doesn't give me a posted date, but also I can't seem to make it give me only my currently posted books. |

At PBS, "Posted" is the opposite of "On Hold", so sorting by "Posted" means to group the items that are available together and the items that are on hold together. "Date" is the sort you're looking for. If you want to see only the books that you are currently offering sorted by the date you posted them, choose "Posted Books" in the View dropdown, then choose Resort and select Date Ascending in the pop-up. |

I knew I must be missing something--thanks, Cathy. Translating to database terminology, I interpret this as "Posted" is a flag (yes/no), so a sort by it when I already had only posted books showing did nothing to re-arrange them. With the Date sort I can see the books that have been hanging around too long so I can decide if they need to shuffle off to Goodwill. Still wish I could download that information (or even just the list of only posted books), but this gets me what I most needed. |

Yes, Posted is a binary flag. :-) I was trying to explain it in a non-techie way, because I never know if someone will understand me otherwise. Glad you got what you needed. |

"With the Date sort I can see the books that have been hanging around too long so I can decide if they need to shuffle off to Goodwill." Though, another thought is that the books that have been posted longest are now near the top of the FIFO que. If you want to cut back onthe number of books youhave posted, it MAY make sense to cull the more recently posted ones. |

"...the books that have been posted longest are now near the top of the FIFO que(ue)...it MAY make sense to cull the more recently posted ones." Yeah, that's a MAY, for sure. I'm now using LibraryThing's bookswap view to get an idea of the posted/wanted counts on PBS and Bookmooch (where I do a little trading off and on) to help me decide. If there are 100+ copies in the PBS system, even if mine's been on offer since 2010, I'm often deciding to de-list and donate. Is there a way within PBS to look at the count of copies on offer? Better yet would be a way to see where my copy is in the FIFO list, but I suspect that will arrive the day after my sparkly unicorn shows up. :) |

"Better yet would be a way to see where my copy is in the FIFO list, but I suspect that will arrive the day after my sparkly unicorn shows up. " LOL - sparkly unicorn. So many people seem to want this feature, yet TPTB are so resistant to it. |

If you add them to your reminder list, you can see how many copies are posted. Only your future sparkly unicorn knows where your copies sit within that number. |

remember that FIFO order doesn't apply when a gold key member makes a request. then the requestor gets their copy from wherever will get the book to them the fastest..... as determined by their history and the speed of the postal service. at least that's how I understand it. I've gotten books from one town over... I could have met them to get the book!! Haven't been able to walk down the street to get the book, or drop it off... at least not yet. |
