I'm a huge Jack Reacher fan and have read every one in that series.  I havve not yet seen the Jack Reacher movie, but it's on my Netflix list. I am torn, though, as to whether to keep it there -- the movie's gotten such mixed reviews.

Reacher fans - if you saw the movie, I'd love to hear from you as to whether you liked it and could you get past the Tom Cruise casting and just enjoy it for what it was?

I saw a trailer for it and was surprised at the presence of Tom Cruise as Jack.  I really didn't think it would work but now want to see the movie.  When I saw the little bit my mouth dropped open to give you an idea of how I took it.

Now, I've sewen the movie and don't remember anything to tie it to a Reacher book except one instance on a gun range.  If I didn't know better they did a Mission Impossible and called him Reacher.  That sure wasn't Jack as I know and love him!

I  am almost finished with THE AFFaIr. It is audio  & another great Jack Reacher book. No way Cruise is Reacher!!!!!!!!

IMHO,  Cruise is a sexist runt. Will not watch that movie, even a freebie.

I havent read the book, and I am also NOT a Tom Cruise fan (But DH is, so unfortunately wind up watchig a lot of his movies), but we watched the movie and it was pretty good. However, having not read the books, I went into it with very little expectation.

Regardless of which one it is I am almost always disappointed with movies made from books I have read. You just can't put the depth of a good book into 1 1/2 hours and they always change the story even if just a little. And the characters never look like what you pictured. I don't bother with them.
