I just went to my favorite used bookstore today and she'd just gotten in some paranormal books. She knows my reading preferences, and she also knows me by name, and was like, "Jennifer, just got some books in that you might be interested in." I've seen Anya Bast's books before and wanted to try them out, so I came home with 5 of her books. Are they more urban fantasy, paranormal romance, or romance? Who would you say writes similarly to her? |

What's your favorie bookstore? I lived in Utah for 10 years (Sandy). My favorite UBS used to be in Midvale. It was near downtown Midvale (the name and street flew right out of my head ...) -- they knew me by name -- I was sad to hear what happened and find them out of business. My two boys still live in the Salt Lake area so the bookstore was always a stop when I went back there. Anyhow, I understand there is a new one on State St and she bought much of the inventory. I was wondering if that was your favorite. I don't now anyone who goes to that one. I've never made it into that store but always wondered what happened to my dollar credits! lol Anyhow, the Anya Bast series is awesome! Definitely a favorite of mine. |

I read the first one, and I liked it okay. I might not have been really in the mood for it at the time. I have the others and I am planning on reading them soon. |

Great question, Jennifer! I was just wondering what everyone thinks of that series this weekend when I was going through my wl and rl. It's on my short list of "to be read" series once I get all the books together! |

Renee, my curiosity is getting the best of me. Basically I am curious to know if they are anything like "Witchling" by Jasmine Yalenorn. I started reading that one, made it about 50 pages into the book, rolled my eyes, and posted it immediately on PBS. Something about her narrative just bugged the crap out of me and I didn't want to finish it. I at least didn't pay full price for them, so if I don't care for these, I'm not going to feel horrible if I can't make it through them. It will just mean that I need to be a bit more selective and try reading a chapter or two first. Sometimes that is not enough to measure how much I will like a series (for example, I started out liking Devon Monk's series, but by the time I finished the first book I didn't care what happened in the rest of the series. Immediately posted the book and sent it on its way.) |

Well I currently have 4 of them sitting on my shelf. I have also not gotten a chance to read them yet. my mom has read them and told me they were more romance than fantasy. I have not read them yet so I can't say for sure. She also said there was a lot of sex secens in them so I'm going to have to say they were more paranormal romance. I looked at some of the few reviews and they all pretty much said the same thing that there was a over abundant of sex scenes. At least thats what the ones that went into great detail said. You might just have to pick up the first book start it and come back to tell us! Last Edited on: 8/17/10 4:16 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

The Witchling series was another that I just recently discovered (after I read Yalenorn's newest, "Night Myst"), and I wondered if they were any good. I think I'll definitely try Elemental Witches first. |

"Witch Heart"...I enjoyed reading it and "The Chosen Sin"...a 'good-read'. Those are the only two I've been fortunate enough to be able to read, thus far. I'd say, if U brought FIVE books home with you...lucky YOU! KNOW that I love PN-genre since joining PBS. I more go a bit towards YA, than erotica, though. I luv sciFi when of the more positive outlook of HUMANKIND going forward and getting better; improving. Romance...most all bks.have some luve/romance on-the-side angle, which makes them interesting. Not a real romanc-romacy reader, but mom is/has always been. I read those when out of books. Last Edited on: 8/21/10 2:37 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
