How do you know the reading level of a book?? |

Kids books tend to have reading levels on the back these days, or Lexiles.
A good rule of thumb, though, is if you can read a page and only have one or two errors, it's your reading level. If you read w/three or more errors (or words you do not understand), it's too hard of a reading level. |

If you go to booksource.com, a site to order books for classrooms and libraries, it gives the reading levels of thousands of books. Remember that they are approximate, however. A book can be on a kids reading level, but due to the content, they don't comprehend. |

Thank you Chris and Molly. This is an old 50's paperback (youth) that I have that is in good condition. I just wasn't sure what age to suggest when I post. Thanks for the link, that is a good resource. Sherrie |
